We've been doing a little extra-time analysis; and discovered we'd underestimated our own score. It turns out our Simple Acoustic pods are even better for the planet than we first thought.
One pod, over 3,000 recycled bottles
We originally believed each of our Mid Pods contained around 1,200 recycled plastic bottles; after a closer look at the numbers, the real figure is far higher. Every Mid-Sized Simple Acoustic pod is made using over 3,000 recycled 500ml plastic bottles, with recycled material making up around 70% of the finished pod.
To put that into perspective, those bottles laid end-to-end would stretch the length of around six football pitches; a distance any World Cup-winning squad would be proud to cover. That's a huge amount of plastic diverted into something genuinely useful, and it's built into a single acoustic pod.
From ocean-bound waste to calmer classrooms
The best part is where those bottles came from. Each one was destined for landfill, or worse still, our oceans; where plastic waste poses a serious threat to some of the world's most magnificent marine life.
Instead of adding to that problem, we transform this waste into acoustic material. Recycled PET plastic is spun into a dense, sound-absorbing felt that forms around 70% of every pod we build.
